What is CAFFA?
Chicago Area Families For Adoption (CAFFA) is one of the largest adoption support groups in the Midwest. We are dedicated to providing information and support to all members of the adoption triad and adoption professionals in the Chicagoland area. Major CAFFA events include the biennial CAFFA Adoption Conference, annual Kaleidoscope Culture Camp, annual Camp Pride Korea, and the annual Walk For Adoption Chicago. CAFFA also serves as an adoption advocate by promoting awareness to the media and community at large.
History
CAFFA began in 1973 as the Holt Adoptive Parents Group by parents who adopted Korean children through the Holt agency. These founding families recognized the need for support and sharing with other adoptive parents, which stands as the cornerstone of CAFFA. In 1986, in response to increasing demand throughout the Chicago area, we became the Chicago Area Families For Adoption and expanded out services to include the entire Chicagoland area.
