We received many heartfelt stories from worthy young adults for a chance to be awarded a CAFFA Scholarship. We are very honored to have been able to read these students’ stories about how being adopted has affected their lives.
Our first place winner is Alex Malachowski. His submission captured the spirit and heart of our essay question and wanted to recognize his story and submission. Here is an excerpt from Alex’s essay:
“Adoption has shaped my life because it put me into a family that helped to bring out my talents and gifts. The love and support that I have received from my immediate family as well as my grandparents and Aunts and Uncles is unbelievable. When I look back at every important milestone or celebration in my life, I am blessed to see all of their faces.”
One of our Board Members was particularly moved by the essays and offered a generous additional donation. This allowed us to award 3 Honorable Mentions to the following students: Grace Miller, Emma Plum, and Beth Mical.
We wish all of our scholarship winners and entrants “Good Luck!” as they begin this new chapter in the lives.
